Current Mercy Home Needs

General Giving Fund

Most of our one-time and monthly donations go directly into the General Giving Fund. These donations go towards the ongoing needs of the ministry. Some of these include...

  • Food for the 100+ children, staff, and Bys Family.
  • Medical expenses for the 100+ children, staff, and Bys Family.
  • All ongoing maintenance, utilities, and day to day costs related to running the entire Mercy Home campus and property.
  • School supplies and expenses for the 300+ children that attend Mercy Home School.
  • Salary expenses for all school teachers and staff.
  • All costs associated with running Mercy Home Church, which currently has approximately 600+ attend services each week. Mercy Home also feeds all of its members a meal each week after service.
  • Travel expenses for Jeff and Stephanie to come back to the states from time to time so they can visit family and raise support for the ministry.
  • Ongoing Gospel related outreach to the local village. Such as building families new houses, providing food and medical to needy widows, helping local village children with school fees and medical expenses, etc.

Larger Needs and Projects

  • Washing Machines ($5,000)

Living with 120+ kids means LOTS of laundry, every day. Most of our washing machines are out of order and beyond repair, so we are having to do most our laundry by hand.

  • Farm Expansion ($5,000)

Our goal for the coming year is to start raising a lot of our own meat. This money will help us build structures for rabbits, ducks, and pigs, as well as for a milk cow or two.

  • Computer & Projector for every classroom ($6,000)

We have a total of 14 classrooms at Mercy Christian academy from Pre-K to 12th grade. We would love to purchase a refurbished Chromebook and projector for each room so that our teachers can utilize them for teaching as well as learning. This will open a whole world of learning to our students as currently they do not have internet access.

  • Land ($10,000)

We would like to buy an acre of land that is next to our property that we will be able to use in the future for staff housing. Housing will help us in recruiting quality teachers and other staff that come from other parts of Kenya. Until we build housing, we will be able to utilize the land for Napier grass to feed a cow(s) that, Lord willing, we will be adding soon

  • Church pavilion “spruce-up” ($15,000)

When we built this pavilion about 5 years ago, we really had no idea just how much it would be used. But nowadays, between the home, school, and church, it gets used a ton! Church services alone have been running between 500 and 800 people every Sunday! That being said, it has a lot of wear and tear so we need to repair the concrete floor, replace the wood posts with metal, and we would like to do some things to make it look nicer as well.

  • Lab equipment and teachers’ office for the high school ($20,000)

This money will enable us to add lab workstations and equipment for our high school. We will also be able to add an office for the teachers to use to prepare lessons, make copies, etc.

Frequently Asked Questions

CUSTOM JAVASCRIPT / HTML
Should I give to Mercy Home through this site or on the Mercy Home Website?

Mike Mazyck has designed this site for one specific purpose: To track the effectiveness of the Mercy Home Film. This will allow Mike and Mercy Home Ministries to know if future resources should be invested in this style of media to spread the word about Mercy Home.

If the Mercy Home Film played a large part in your decision to give to the ministry, we would ask you to give on this page. However, at the end of the day, we want you to give wherever you feel comfortable. Either way, ALL OF THE MONEY GOES TO MERCY HOME.

Does 100% of my donation go directly to Mercy Home?

Yes, the ministry receives 100% of the money directly. Your donation is securely processed by a 3rd party company, “Kindful”, which you will notice at the bottom of the giving form. Once you give, your donation goes directly to Mercy Home Ministries.

My gift is so small, will it even make an impact?

YES!!...you have no idea how far a dollar can go in Kenya. There are children in the village who can’t attend school because they are behind on school fees by less than 3 dollars. You can provide a mattress for someone who is currently sleeping on a hard dirt floor for only 35 dollars.

It doesn’t matter the size of your donation, it will be put to quick and effective use for the Kingdom of God.

How do I specify that I want my money to go towards one of the “Larger Needs” listed?

If you are wanting your funds to go towards one of the larger needs/projects, submit the donation using the form above. After submitting the donation, simply shoot us a message by clicking “Contact Mercy Home” in the dropdown menu above and let us know which need you are wanting your donation to be applied to.

What if I want to give a larger donation than any of the current needs listed?

There is truly a never-ending list of needs at Mercy Home. Those needs are large and small. We have compiled a list of some of the larger and most pressing needs above in the 2025 Current Needs section.

However, there are many other larger needs that are not listed above. If you would like more info on some of the “unlisted” needs, or want to discuss making a larger donation, simply submit your inquiry on the “Contact Mercy Home” page.

Should I give monthly or one-time?

We will be incredibly blessed and grateful for either. However, monthly donations do allow the ministry to budget and plan with much greater accuracy.

Was the Mercy Home Film paid for, sponsored by, or initiated in any way by Jeff and Stephanie or Mercy Home Ministries?

Please know that this film was not initiated or sponsored by Jeff and Stephanie or Mercy Home Ministries. I am also not employed in any way by Mercy Home Ministries. I created this film by my own accord because of the impact that Mercy Home and my relationship with Jeff and Stephanie Bys had on my life.

I also created this film because as I have spent time at Mercy Home, I have observed that there is a never-ending list of needs that Jeff and Stephanie have. I do not want to be bashful - These needs require money! They require brothers and sisters in Christ, even if they are thousands of miles away, to strive side by side with them, on the field of battle.

Has Mike Mazyck been employed by Mercy Home Ministries or compensated in any way for this film?

Mike Mazyck currently serves in an un-paid position on the Board of Mercy Home Ministries. This entire project was completed at his own personal expense and had never been initiated by Jeff, Stephanie, or anyone at Mercy Home Ministries.

How do I know if I am called to give to this Ministry?

As a follower of Christ, you are called to actively and sacrificially participate in the fulfillment of the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18–20), whether by going to those who have yet to hear the gospel or by supporting those who go. However, the Lord may not be leading you to partner with this ministry in that way. There are many other faithful ministries through which God may direct you to give. We encourage you to seek the Lord in prayer and study His Word before committing financial support to Mercy Home Ministries.

Furthermore, please do not send financial support to this ministry:

  • If you are unable to meet the needs of your family. Scripture teaches that providing for one’s household is a foundational Christian duty. The Apostle Paul writes, “But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever” (1 Timothy 5:8). If financial hardship prevents you from giving to missions, please know that your worth before God is not based on what you can give, but on His unchanging love and grace in Christ. Even the smallest gift, given in faith, is precious in His sight (Luke 21:1–4). Paul also assures us, “For if the readiness is there, it is acceptable according to what a person has, not according to what he does not have” (2 Corinthians 8:12).
  • If you are not supporting your local church. God’s design is that the local church remains central to the life and mission of every believer. Paul instructs, “Let the one who is taught the word share all good things with the one who teaches” (Galatians 6:6), and also, “Let the elders who rule well be considered worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in preaching and teaching” (1 Timothy 5:17). The advancement of global missions should never come at the expense of faithfulness to your local congregation. Your first financial priority in giving should be to the church where you are spiritually fed.
  • We ask that all financial support given to Mercy Home Ministries be done prayerfully, cheerfully, and in accordance with biblical wisdom. May God lead you in joyful obedience as you steward the resources He has entrusted to you.

The Exam That Changed Everything - Mike's Story

Deceived by the American Dream: Finally Hearing the Hard things Jesus said!

STRUNG OUT ON A COUCH … when a Visitor arrives!

There were only two things I cared about as a teenager: surfing and getting high. On this particular south Florida afternoon, the waves were flat. That left me with only one option. I had one pill of ecstasy, a bag of weed, and the house to myself. Not sure why I’d be having my own little private party that afternoon, as I had nothing to celebrate; I was only 19 years old and had just been arrested for the second time in my life. That arrest was a violation of my probation for the first arrest, which only compounded my problems. My life was heading in the wrong direction quickly.

But that afternoon the party had a different ending. I still remember it like it was yesterday. I was sitting on the couch in my living room, strung out, and in one of the most shameful states of my entire life. As the drugs wore off, I began thinking about the embarrassment of a man I had become, and the direction my life seemed to be heading. These thoughts led to me asking myself some difficult questions about the meaning and purpose of life, and where I had gone so wrong. But as I contemplated these things, I remember becoming aware that something strange was happening; I had answers. The answers were clear and obvious, as if they had been right in front of me the whole time. My eyes were being opened.

That afternoon, in a period of about 90 minutes, it was as if every question I had about life was answered. All the seeds of truth my mother had planted during my early childhood years were being watered. I now realize the Holy Spirit had joined me that afternoon. I sat down on that couch blind. But when I arose, I could see. I remember getting in my car the next morning and looking at the stack of CDs in my console, and thinking to myself, I don’t like any of this music anymore.

GOD – A GIRL – AND AN EDUCATION

One year later I was enrolled in Bible college at Christ for the Nations Institute in Dallas, Texas. I had no intentions of going into the ministry; I just knew I had a desire to study the Bible, to know God more, and C.F.N.I. seemed to be where He was leading me. I’m certain He was testing me also, to see if I’d be willing to lay down my idol of surfing and follow Him.

I graduated C.F.N.I. with a Certificate of Practical Theology. Around that same time, I met my beautiful bride, Tiffany, and we were hitched one year later. But now I had a problem; I had to figure out how to provide for this girl. I didn’t have the money or desire to go to college, and I still didn’t want to go into the ministry. So, I did what any normal person would do. I decided to become a real estate agent. Eight hundred bucks and eight weeks later, I had all the building blocks of something great: God, a wife, and a real estate license! Time to start building. So that’s what I did. I was young, newly married, and ambitious. Tiffany and I began building a family, and pursuing what I think most would refer to as the American Dream.
